We’re ringing in 2025 with two College Football Playoff games.
Penn State started the quarterfinals on Tuesday with a 31-14 win over Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. Texas joined PSU in the semifinals Wednesday afternoon with a dramatic double overtime victory over Arizona State in the Peach Bowl. Who will join them from the Rose Bowl?
The final game of the quarterfinals – the Sugar Bowl game between Georgia and Notre Dame – was postponed Thursday after the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in the early hours of Jan. 1 left at least 10 dead and many more injured.

How loose is Ohio State? The Buckeyes looked like a completely different team against the Volunteers than they did against Michigan. The Ducks were facing a fourth-and-4 at midfield and elected to take it, but Dillon Gabriel’s pass fell incomplete and the Buckeyes would take over.

The deepest passing game has been open so far in the College Football Playoff as the Buckeyes have a two-point lead over first-place Oregon.
Ohio State opened the season as the favorite to win the national title because of the talent that had gathered in Columbus during the offseason. But some offensive performances in the regular season have some – including yours truly – questioning whether this team can win it all. So far, Ohio State looks pretty good. But still, it’s early in the Rose Bowl.

With everyone watching the end of the Peach Bowl, Ohio State ripped off a quick interception and stopped Oregon in its first place.

Texas defeats ASU in 2OT
After blowing a 16-point lead, Texas went on to hold on for a thrilling Peach Bowl victory in overtime. The Longhorns advance to the semifinals of the Cotton Bowl.
